On Sunday, March 5th, ten of Assumption’s junior high students participated in the Los Angeles Archdiocese Academic Junior High Decathlon. Consisting of 8 individual and 2 team events, the AJHD “strives to bring forth academic talents and celebrate them in the context of spirit-filled competition.”

With over 100 schools across the diocese participating, the events are extremely competitive. This year, ABVM placed 9th in the Super Quiz event! Seventh grader Abigail, placed 6th in the individual literature competition, and eighth grader Julianna,  placed 6th in the individual English competition. Eighth grade participants include Amanda and Renata,  and team captain Karina; seventh graders include Luke, Robert, and Maia; and sixth graders  include Cailene and Gabby.

Thank you to the teachers and parents who helped coach these students; Mrs. Carranza, Mrs. Faenza, Mrs. Louk, Mrs. McGeough, Mrs. Quinly, Mrs. Suriano, and Ms. Synott.

And thank you to the parents who organized a delicious lunch for us on the exceptionally long day at CSULB’s Walter Pyramid.

 GO GATORS!
