Requirements for Volunteers and Participants in Youth Programs
In accord with the USCCB and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, all ABVM volunteers must read and agree to follow the Archdiocese of L.A. Guidelines for Adults Interacting with Minors. All minors volunteering at ABVM must read and agree to follow the Boundary Guidelines For Junior High and High School Youth Working or Volunteering with Children or Youth.
All adult volunteers who work with or around children in any way are required to Register online at VIRTUS and:
- Register online at VIRTUS and Attend a VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” adult awareness training session. For training locations and schedules click here,
- Anyone who supervises or is perceived to supervise children in any way is required to submit to a background check in the form of fingerprinting by the Los Angeles Archdiocese. For Fingerprinting Schedule & Locations click here.
- For re-certification every FOUR years volunteers need to attend a” Keeping the Promise Alive” training session. For training locations and schedules click here.
- Send a copy of your documents to school office.
All Assumption School and R.E. students will take part in the “Teaching Touching Safety” self-protection education program each year. The children are taught about self-protection, trusting their instincts and how to seek adult help.
